Te Pae’s central South Island location and proximity to the city’s airport offer ideal access to be able to enjoy the best of New Zealand’s legendary South Island pre or post-event. Adventure-ready year round, all four season have something unique and special to offer.
Opening in 2020, Te Pae is Christchurch’s convention centre and New Zealand’s premier venue for conventions, conferences, congress, exhibitions, trade shows, meetings and events.
Not many newly built events venues can boast such a central city location as Te Pae. Its prime position in the central city on the banks of the Avon River (which has always been a key location for meeting and hospitality) enjoys the best of charming natural surroundings and easy access to Christchurch’s flourishing CBD - a modern retail, accommodation, dining, business, leisure and transport hub, just 15 minutes from the international airport.

Te Pae is a world-class venue purpose designed to be flexible and responsive to every event requirement. With 28,000m² of space designed to constantly adapt, Te Pae’s built-in flexibility allows multiple and diverse events to run seamlessly and simultaneously. With a unique divisible auditorium and the ability to cater for groups of 200 to 2000 delegates, the centre’s facilities can easily be configured to your specific needs; from boutique and intimate conferences for a few hundred, to grand large-scale conventions or trade exhibitions with thousands of attendees, we can have up to three major events running simultaneously.
The Christchurch Convention Centre is Christchurch’s premier facility for conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, meetings and gala events.
Situated in the heart of Christchurch’s CBD, the Christchurch Convention Centre is an impressive, purpose-built venue surrounded by a variety of deluxe hotels and multi-tiered accommodation providers and is only 15-20 minutes from Christchurch International Airport.
Boosting state of the art facilities, drive in access and 1864 sqm of flat floor space it is a flexible and functional space for a variety of events. The three pillarless halls open up into a pre-function area leading to the impressive naturally lit foyer. A staircase and elevator provide access to the first floor where there are seven breakout rooms of various sizes, a Business Centre, Board Room and private bar.
The venue’s conferencing capabilities are further enhanced by its pedestrian airbridge link to the Christchurch Town Hall for Performing Arts and Christchurch’s largest Qualmark rate five start hotel, the Crown Plaza Christchurch.
The Christchurch Convention Centre is owned and managed by Vbase who are the management force behind four of New Zealand’s premier conference and event facilities - The Christchurch Convention Centre, the Christchurch Town Hall for Performing Arts, CBS Canterbury Arena and AMI Stadium.
