Martinborough’s Parehua Resort has received a Qualmark Gold 5-star rating, ranking it among the top sustainable tourism businesses in New Zealand, and one of five Qualmark Gold accommodation providers in Wairarapa. The achievement comes as the resort nears its fourth anniversary of offering premium accommodation in the heart of Martinborough wine country.
Qualmark Gold is the highest honour awarded to operators who consistently excel in all aspects of hospitality and visitor experience. Parehua’s recognition reflects the resort’s strong commitment to sustainability, from protecting the natural environment to fostering local community connections, while consistently delivering a safe, high-quality experience for guests.
To achieve a Qualmark rating, operators are evaluated against the Sustainable Tourism Business criteria, which cover five key areas: health and safety, business systems, environment, people, and community and culture.
Sarthak Binju, Parehua’s Operations Manager, says, “We are thrilled to have been awarded Qualmark Gold Status. This is an extraordinary milestone and a tribute to the commitment and collaboration across our team over the past four years. We are proud to stand among the businesses leading the way in positioning Aotearoa as a world-class sustainable visitor destination.”
Parehua Resort offers a range of charming cottages and villas nestled among Martinborough’s vineyards and is a popular destination for travellers exploring the region, including its Lonely Planet–recognised stargazing experiences.
