PERTH, 19-22 May 2025 - The 2025 National Suicide Prevention Conference (NSPC), led and hosted by Suicide Prevention Australia and delivered by professional conference organiser ASN Events, has marked a historic milestone in Perth, drawing record-breaking delegate numbers and reaffirming the city’s capacity to host events of national significance and social impact.

Suicide Prevention Australia is the national peak body for suicide prevention, bringing together lived experience advocates, service providers, researchers, and policymakers to reduce suicide across Australia. As owners of the conference, Suicide Prevention Australia ensures the event serves as a vital platform for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and setting national priorities in suicide prevention.

Held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) in early June, the conference welcomed 900 delegates, the highest attendance in the event’s history. Supported by Business Events Perth (BE Perth), this year’s NSPC attracted a powerful cross-sector audience of clinicians, policymakers, community leaders, lived experience advocates, researchers, and First Nations voices, all united in the pursuit of meaningful, actionable suicide prevention.

“This record attendance reflects a strong national commitment to advancing health and wellbeing through moments of connection and collaboration” said Kendra Naidoo, General Manager of Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. “We’re proud to have hosted such an important event which provides a platform for these conversations, and to welcome delegates from around the country to Perth.”

Business Events Perth CEO Gareth Martin added, “Hosting this landmark event reinforces Western Australia’s global reputation as a destination for conferences that make a difference. It highlights our strength in delivering high impact events aligned with the State’s key knowledge sectors, while also spotlighting WA’s commitment to leading crucial discussions on the world stage. This success is a testament to the power of collaboration between a passionate organising committee, world-class event facilities, and the professional expertise of ASN Events.”

The diverse program spanned four days and featured keynote addresses from national and international experts, sector-led workshops, and a series of collaborative roundtables. Themes across the conference highlighted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suicide prevention, systems transformation, peer-led practice, and lived experience leadership.

Antonia Beddoes, Business and Partnerships Manager at ASN Events, noted the conference’s significance not only in size but in spirit. “This was more than a record number, it was a record level of engagement, depth, and shared purpose. Perth provided the ideal backdrop to hold space for these important conversations, and we are honoured to have played a role in helping bring the event to life.”

The event's success also underscores Perth’s growing appeal as a leading destination for national and international conferences, particularly those with a strong community or public health focus.
