Auckland, New Zealand – July 24, 2024 – On Wednesday 24th July the 2024 Hire Excellence Awards were held at the Viaduct Event Centre coinciding with the two-day industry conference HIRECON24, hosted by the Hire Industry Association of New Zealand (Inc.).
Silk Estate Marquee Events Ltd (Silk Estate), now under the new ownership of Jason & Kate Blundell, achieved remarkable success at the event. The company secured two Merit Awards for Health & Safety and Most Improved/Progressive Company, as well as the prestigious Party & Events Company of the Year Award.
Jason & Kate Blundell, who have extensive backgrounds in the construction and event industries, entered the hire industry as newcomers with their acquisition of Canterbury based marquee and hire business Silk Estate in November 2022. Since blending their skill sets 18 months ago, the couple has been leveraging their expertise to elevate Silk Estate’s offering and expand into new markets, including corporate and business events. Their full-service design and delivery of marquee events now caters for local and national corporate clients and brands looking for an unforgettable experience for their guests, alongside their existing premium marquee wedding market.
When asked about his reaction to their recent accolades, Jason Blundell remarked, “We were genuinely surprised, especially to win the Party & Events Company of the Year Award!” He added, “The awards entry and judging process provided us with a real opportunity to reflect on the past 18 months and refine our strategy for growth. Kate and Jason Blundell as mentioned in their merit award for Most improved/progressive company are new to Hire and a Party and Events Hire business. Having to learn the seasonal nature of Party and Event hire - flood to famine and how to construct marquees all in the midst of the marquee season, is a real tribute to their passion to achieve. The judges were super impressed in their flexibility to adapt to client needs and achieve a great result for themselves and the client. The couple’s energy to learn, develop, improve and growth was easily noticed. Their attention to the game plan of growth at all times was evident and the faith they put into their team to help them deliver the plan.
