The Australian market has an air of optimism with several opportunities received into the AU Office for late 2020 and early 2021, as companies resume or start planning. The COVID-19 app launched in Australia has also received a high amount of coverage in the Business Events space with now 5.5 million downloads. To provide an understanding of the levels in Australia, the Government has introduced a Roadmap to COVIDSAFE Australia. This will allow States and Territories to move through each Step based on local conditions. All states are currently at Step 1 (as at 18 May), while Step 2 will be reviewed in two weeks. The goal is to be at Step 3 by July which will allow Business Events to resume at 100 delegates. While being mindful of the current environment, our key focus has been connection and communication. Eighty-nine AU Hosted Buyers were confirmed on the MEETINGS 2020 programme with fifty-five due to experience a pre/post familiarisation to one of six regions throughout New Zealand. These AU decision-makers all had opportunities for between 2021-2025. I have continued to engage with these clients via a survey and two personalised communication emails. There will be changes with some buyers and their forward plans, however once we have a clear path, we can commence future discussions and re-engage on those opportunities for our members that were secured pre-March 2020.
