Insights

As Australia emerges from its COVID-19 hiatus, the easing of restrictions signals the long-awaited return of business events. It's been a grueling 20-months with rolling lockdowns, but the optimism right now is positive and is particularly evident in NSW and VIC where people can freely travel over the border.

People are planning, there is movement within the population, and everyone is looking forward to a new beginning.

Health and safety remains paramount and mandatory vaccinations for attendance at events provides a level of comfort for venue owners, event organisers and delegates.  Sydney and Melbourne are well versed in COVIDsafe guidelines, and this has brought confidence back to the market.   The guidelines are clear, and it will be easy to do business.

There is pent-up demand for in-person events, with companies eager to bring people back together after one and half years behind screens.  Opportunity numbers will grow with business confidence on the up.   The next few months will be a transition period as the events sector builds back momentum and finds a new operating tempo as it gears up for 2022.
