Discover Hawke's Bay
Back to map
Where to find us
Hawke’s Bay is located on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island and is accessible by air, land and sea so getting here is nice and easy.
The region of Hawke’s Bay begins in the north at Lake Waikaremoana in Te Wairoa, heads south to the Art Deco city of Napier, winds into the Hastings District and includes Central Hawke’s Bay in the south. Hawke’s Bay regional airport is 12 minutes from Napier City Centre and 22 minutes from Hastings City Centre. Air New Zealand operates regular daily flights in and out of Hawke’s Bay direct from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and Jetstar operates daily flights to and from Auckland. Getting around the city is no problem with a range of great options including coach services, taxis, limousines and to keep with the Art Deco theme, vintage cars.
Scenic Highlights
Napier is a city by the sea internationally renowned for its depiction of Art Deco architecture, which reinvented itself after the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake - its stories are richly told by earthquake enthusiastic local guides.
The Hastings District is a geographically diverse area that takes in the drama of Cape Kidnappers, coastal Waimarama, the magnificent Te Mata Peak, the village of Havelock North and the panoramic Heretaunga Plains.
Having an international reputation as a wine producer, Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s oldest wine producing region and has been making wine for over 100 years. Today the region boasts 100 vineyards, 80 wineries and grows more than 80 percent of New Zealand’s merlot, cabernet sauvignon and syrah grapes and is also widely tipped as the producer of New Zealand’s finest Chardonnay. Most wineries complete with function spaces are well equipped to host corporate dinners or events.
